She played a big role in leading the Devils to the first region championship in program history. Her club and high school teams take advantage of her quick arm swings. She throws in lefthanded swings to catch opponents off-guard. She does a great job with her timing on blocks to get balls on hands and help out her defense.

Cantrell has good aim on her swings in the middle. Cantrell can place soft ones in the middle of the court on one play then deposit harder ones to different parts of the court on the next play. Cantrell recorded 95 kills for University Heights last fall.

Sword is trying to become a sound all-around player for the club and high school teams. Sword has demonstrated the ability to produce at all six spots on the court. Sword takes back sets and sends them to different parts of the court. She's tough on her line shots. Sword is not afraid to push balls to the short corner to keep teams guessing.

Owen sees the court well and does whatever it takes to keep plays alive, yet under control. Teammates can depend on her to make sound two to three-point passes. Her jump serve is also something to see. Her court energy is contagious.

Note from the Writer

Mike Graham has been writing for Prep Dig for one year and has enjoyed getting to know the volleyball scenes in both Kentucky and Ohio.
