WI Juniors Grand Slam: Final Shoutouts and Tournament Gems

The following article attempts to highlight a few remaining kids that I haven't gotten the chance to mention yet. There were so many studs that I have seen before, new athletes I discovered along the way, and young up and coming stars that I can wait to see grow and develop their games over the years. Newton is a rising libero and defensive specialist with a ton of potential. Only just completing her first year of high school, Newton is already turning heads on the court with her quick movements, great angles, and passion and grit needed in a backcourt boss. I can't wait to see more of her in the upcoming years.     Dickson is a fiery setter that impressed at the tournament as well. One of things about Dickson that she does so well is that she runs a fast offense and sets a ball with good tempo. Many teams had a hard time keeping up with her. She also did a good job getting all of her attackers involved so her team was firing from everywhere on the court.     Noble is a 6 rotation outside that has a big swing and she will use it everywhere on the court. I watched her take big swings from both pins, out of the middle, and also out of the back court. Noble was also strong on the defensive end. She puts up a solid block and also plays strong off blocker defense. She reads well and picks up a ton of tips and rolls.     I had seen Vegter play earlier in the club season as she plays up a year in 15u so I had a solid baseline of her skills. However, in a few short months, she has shown incredible growth. One of those developments has been her ability to go around the block and hit huge line shots. She was difficult for teams to stop on the weekend due to the fact that when they adjusted their block, she would either alter her swing or just go up and over the block entirely.     Cho is a setter with smooth hands, quick feet, and a good setter IQ. She was all over the court at the Baird Center, tracking down out of system passes and delivering high level sets to her attackers that were just what they needed. Cho was also highly effective in right back defense. She picked up numerous tips and dumps and came up with some impressive digs as well.     Klopotic uses her IQ, endurance, strength, vertical, and sheer grit to dominate from the outside pin. Playing up a year on on the MKE Juniors 17-1, Klopotic does an exceptional job reading the block in front of her. She knows when to use her vertical and explosive approach to propel herself up and over the block, when to hit the seam, go around the block entirely, or when to use a blockers hands to her advantage to score points. Klopotic is also very solid on serve receive. Simply put, she is one of those players that you just don't want to take off the floor EVER.     Molea is a 6 rotation outside with a ton of heat on her swing. She was very impactful on the weekend. She transitions quickly, has an explosive approach, and will take a big hard swing on both in system and out of system balls. Molea is also one that can swing from both pins and also take big rips out of the middle.     Bauer is well on her way for making a name for herself. I was not only surprised at the tempo and consistency she sets at for such a young age, but also the court awareness and overall game IQ she already possess. In addition to her setting skills, Bauer is a lefty which only stands to heighten her game. As she continues to grow and develop her game, I anticipate she will incorporate more and more of those lefty setter dumps that fool defenses and awe crowds.    While we typically don't write on the super young kids, I will say that watching the 13 Open division, there are numerous athletes that are going to be crazy good as they are already turning heads.
