Club Spotlight – South Central Nebraska Volleyball Club

Started in 1989 and celebrating 30 years, coaches from Doniphan-Trumbull, St. Paul, Clay Center, and Aurora started a club based on this statement:</span></p> <p><i><span style="font-weight: 400">“</span></i><i><span style="font-weight: 400">The mission of this club is to provide an opportunity for athletes in central Nebraska to improve volleyball skills during the off-season. We enjoy helping student-athletes reach team goals with their local high school teams and also provide opportunities for players to continue playing at the collegiate level.”</span></i></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400">Currently, the club has team members from Broken Bow to Deshler, 2 hours and 51 minutes apart with many other schools in between </span><span style="font-weight: 400">Aurora, BDS, Blue Hill, Boone Central (Albion), Broken Bow, Central Valley (Greeley), Centura (Cairo), Cross County ( Stromsburg), Columbus, Deshler, Franklin, Elm Creek, Hastings Adams Central, Hastings St. Cecelia, Kearney Catholic, Kenesaw, Loup City, Minden, Nebraska Christian (Central City), Riverside (Cedar Rapids), St. Paul, Sandy Creek (Fairfield), Superior, Sutton, and York.</span></p> <p></p> <p>Club Director and Aurora Head Coach Lois Hixson states the following as strengths of the club:</p> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">The success of our club is truly credited to the energy and experience of our coaching staff and the cohesive approach to fundamental training.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">We are fortunate to be able to provide this opportunity to players throughout central Nebraska players to improve during the off-season.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">It is exciting and rewarding to have several South Central alumni return as coaches each season.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">We believe in multi-sport athletes and coaches work closely with players when scheduling practices and tournaments so players can continue to participate in school activities.</span></li> </ul> <p>Organizing a record 19 teams this season, teams choose to play in six USAV or JVA tournaments.
