About Emma

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a 6'0” outside hitter/defensive specialist who impacts the game on both offense and defense. Offensively, I’m aggressive and smart with my swings, able to mix power with placement to score from both the front and back row—averaging 15 kills per match. Defensively, I read the game well and stay composed, averaging 10 digs per match and keeping the ball alive in tough situations.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m calm and composed on the court, no matter how intense the moment gets. I don’t get rattled or overly hyped—I stay locked in and focused on doing my job. I want the ball when the game is on the line, and I trust myself to deliver. I lead with quiet confidence and steady energy, and I know my presence can shift the momentum without saying a word. I’m competitive and mentally tough.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in FCA-Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I also am a member of National Honor Society. I have been selected twice to attend my school's leadership retreat. I am a member of the writing center, where I mentor and guide student's through their writing.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Teamwork is a huge part of who I am as a player; I value every role on the court and take pride in making the people around me better. Off the court, I’ve learned the importance of giving back through community service and being a positive role model for younger athletes. These experiences have helped me grow not just as a player, but as a person.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The night before our district championship game I went down at practice. At first, the trainer thought I had broken my ankle. I was devastated. The next morning, very early, we went to get an X-Ray. My ankle was not broken! It was severely sprained and swollen. I didn't want to let my team down. The trainer wrapped it real tight and I went out to battle when my presence was a surprise.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a high level program with a strong, positive team culture where I can grow as both a player and a leader. I want to be part of a competitive environment where I can make an impact and contribute to the team’s success. Ideally, I’m looking for a school in a warm climate that feels like home—a place that values hard work, connection, and pushing each other to be our best.

Tharp was one of the more productive point scoring arms in the greater Cincy area. She lead Oak Hills with 4.3 k/s on a total of 372 kills, earning her second consecutive 1st team all-league nod. At 6’0, she has good length and range as a pin hitter as she can impact the game from both sides of the court, especially when on tempo through a quicker pin option as she can create good arm speed and pace. She makes the move to Elevation ‘s top 17U team, adding fire power to strengthen this roster.
