Not a surprise to see her earn a top performer award. All it took was to watch her pound balls from the hitting line to make it clear that she was the top hitter of this group. Leyla was one of three USAV all tournament team players at this event. Nyla Mclaurin Nyla Mclaurin 5'6" | OH North Stafford | 2030 VA and Liana Lipscomb Liana Lipscomb 6'0" | MB Forest Park | 2030 VA were the other two.

Leyla plays a solid six rotations while also standing out as an offensive presence in the front and back row. Her approach jump of 9’6″ is much greater than what appears on the Paramount site.

Leyla will attend Paul VI this coming season. They do have an opening on the outside. Hard to believe they have a better replacement on the junior varsity.

Leyla Landry Leyla Landry 5'9" | OH St. Paul VI Catholic | 2030 VA made the USAV American Division all tournament team for her outside hitting and six rotation play. She was an offensive presence in the front as well as back row. Her vertical is still on the low side but with more growth and strength that should improve (Edit: Her approach jump is actually at 9’6″). Ideally, she should shoot for close to 10 feet if she hopes to compete at the Open levels or Division I in college.

This coming high school season she will suit up for Paul VI. They have an opening at one of their left sides but competing as a frosh in the WCAC have humbled many before her with high expectations. Coco Lewis Coco Lewis 6'2" | OH VA thrashes from one of the left sides.

Leyal first came on the radar towards the end of the 2025 season when she led Paramount Jazz 13 to a tournament win in the Chesapeake Showdown in the 13/14 Division. At the Junior Nationals she received an extended view, showing an ability to play six rotations. Her passing kept Paramount in system, while she could also generate an offense from the back row. She also showed consistency putting the ball down from the left side.

At 5’9″ with an approach jump of 9’3″ would fall short of some of the Metro prospects. However, she finds the empty spots along the floor, putting good velocity on her hits. With a little more growth and strength she should be even more terminal.

Leyla will play at Paul VI next year. The Panthers will have an opening at one of their pin positions.

Leyla made the All tournament team after leading Paramount to the gold in the American Division. She will receive additional exposure at the Prep Dig frosh Showcase on the calendar for the end of July, along with her all-tournament teammate Nyla Mclaurin Nyla Mclaurin 5'6" | OH North Stafford | 2030 VA .

Paramount Jazz has a number of pins who can hurt you. Leyla stands out as one of those pins. At 5’9″ with a 9’3″ approach jump she finds enough space over the net to put the ball away. Those deep hits in the corner are the toughest to dig.

She also plays a solid six rotations with the ability to put some velocity on the ball with her back row attacks. Leyla will attend Paul VI next year. It would not surprise me to see her on the varsity roster her frosh season.

I watched her a little in a tournament when she was 13 playing in the Chesapeake Showdown. Her outside hitting was too much for MVSA Force as the Paramount 13 team won the showdown.

In their third set against Blue Ridge her ace gave Paramount a 13-12 lead. Paramount then lost the next three points to give Blue Ridge the win. It appears she can play both pins, transitioning well with quick feet to get her in an excellent position to hit.

I’ll probably see a lot more of her since she plans on playing for Paul VI.
