About Ruthie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a versatile and consistent player who can contribute on both offense and defense. I'm known for my consistent passing, aggressive hitting, and great sportsmanship towards my teams, coaches, and opponents. My primary goal for my high school season is to improve my hitting percentage and aim for shots better. Ultimately, I’m pushing myself to reach my highest stand point in volleyball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

As a young girl who struggles with severe ADHD, I often find myself triggered by slight minor changes in plans, feeling shifting rapidly, sensory inputs, and certain noises. I have potential, but my only setback is my ADHD. Over time, I'm slowly but surely getting there, and overcoming my mental block that's holding me back, ADHD.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I've received honor roll and fruits of the spirit at church

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I often find myself an avid debater. I like to connect like minds into one and work out problems together to find solutions. I enjoy talking to other people about my perception of things that many disagree with. I'm a very trustworthy person and I'm described as the "therapy" friend, which I consider amazing that people know they can talk to me without feeling like their being ignored.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Before I started to face reality instead of using a substance, my life felt like an unwritten story that I believed was going to end soon. My sobriety, however, has allowed me to edit my once unfinished book through creative writing. And that's when I found out what my meaning of life was. Because of my past struggles, I am now inspired to write stories that humanize the experience of addiction.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am interested in an Ivy League English program that can teach me the importance of sharing my thoughts with the world. I want my writings to change the world and people's perspective on daily life. I want there to be a change in the world and there needs to be a change and one singular sentence can make that happen. I want the help of the best professors to help me accomplish that dream I have.
