Regionals are here—-a one-match, winner-take-all part of the IHSAA tournament that's the equivalent of the Sweet 16. Like the other classes, 1A has plenty of talent to go around, including a college commitment sprinkled in here and there. Here are ten players who need to step up their game to earn a win and move on to the semi-state next Saturday.

Similar to older sister Taylor, now at Central Michigan, Jada is a compact and explosive attacker that can take over a match if you let her. Capable of being that six-rotation outside at the next level, she already plays with a strength that is unmatched in 1A.

A nice complement to Jada listed above, Avalin is a three-sport star with the ability to terminate using her size and athleticism. Her main calling card, however, is what she does from behind the service line. She had nine aces in the sectional final against 1A power Pioneer, cementing her ability as a solid piece on this squad.

Although smaller than the average outside hitter, Mackenzie uses her volleyball IQ and court vision to put balls away for Marquette Catholic. Active in serve receive, Miss Snyder is the complete package—-she might end up being a DS/L at the next level, yet her ability to score points regularly keeps her on the court.

As Mackenzie's opposite, it's funny how they have a similar size but play the game so differently. Kira's ability to power through and off of undisciplined blocks is what got her here. She uses strength and brute force to attack defenses, all while still having that court vision needed as a smaller pin attacker to place balls where they need to be.

As a right side in club but a full-time pin player in high school, Blaire is the primary attacker for the Hornets. Her ability to attack at any angle and hit any shot available to her at any time is her major asset, and is doing all of this as a freshman.

Big and physical, Emily's attack touch height makes her look like she's a few inches taller. Able to hit in the M2 slot for Northfield, her two-footed attack is lethal, and can hit every angle needed for a middle her size. Being promoted to PHP this coming spring is huge for her recruitment—-but for now, look for Emily to control the middle, both offensively and defensively, on Saturday.

After years of both setting and attacking at Springs Valley, Maddie FINALLY gets to be a full-time setter at the high school level. Committed to Division 1 Bellarmine, Maddie is a solid and consistent offense-runner who knows exactly who should get the ball, in the exact situation they need the ball to score. Already a multi-year All-State honoree, Maddie will be the reason the Blackhawks advance beyond regionals.

Carly, a three-sport star at #5 CAI, is the libero for the Warriors because of her athleticism, volleyball acuity and overall quickness and anticipation. Her ability to keep her squad in-system (or, at least, staying alive in the point) got the Warriors this far. If not, she'll have her hands full on Saturday, and is capable of passing half the court in serve receive if needed. If she can use that anticipation, athleticism and overall high athletic IQ to her advantage, CAI has a chance to pull the upset.
