Another example of an exceptionally well-rounded player is Blaire, whose Boiler Juniors training got her this far in her playing journey. The complete players on the outside are harder and harder to find these days, as positions are more specialized in this era of collegiate volleyball. Blaire sticks to the basics and perfects them; she’s a primary-passing, smart-hitting outside hitter that should never come out of the game for any reason, and will carry Rossville in the northern half of 2A this fall.

One of the heavier hitters in this class, Blaire can abuse blocks and defenders alike with her strong shoulder and an array of angles to hit. Some might not like her size, but personally, a kid that can score points is a kid that can score points, period. She’s got a lot of high-level training in front of her, and as the primary attacker for the Hornets, she’ll be relied upon regularly as that point scorer.

Youth rules at Rossville, with a pair of Hornets gaining much-needed open-level club training this past spring. Blaire is a solid six-rotation option for Rossville, and should be the primary attacker this fall if used correctly. Of her game, I can only say this—-Blaire’s well-rounded approach to her training this past spring has had her stock rise enough for recruiting eyes to pay attention. No, her size won’t change, but her skill level certainly has, and her ability to play multiple positions for anyone that needs them will help her recruiting process.

Another kid from a not-so-well-known volleyball program, Blaire is a six-rotation athlete that punishes undisciplined blocks regularly. She makes up for her lack of height with a high-and-hard approach to every attack, and even has a small selection of off-speed shots that will throw off even the best-trained of floor defenses. I’m looking forward to the remainder of her club season to see how Boiler Juniors has trained her up for completing her all-around skill set.

One of the reasons for Rossville’s success this past fall, Blaire’s high-and-hard mentality carried her far this fall. Now, with some open-level training and age group comparisons on the horizon, Miss Wellman’s ability to put balls away from both pins should carry her far this club season. Because of her size, she might be relegated to left side play only, but recruiters should understand her ability to terminate from anywhere at any time.

As a right side in club but a full-time pin player in high school, Blaire is the primary attacker for the Hornets. Her ability to attack at any angle and hit any shot available to her at any time is her major asset, and is doing all of this as a freshman.
