The 2025–26 season has been no different. Across the state, several underrated athletes are poised to make a significant impact and turn heads. Here are six players who might not be on everyone's radar yet, but they should be.    Century High School doesn't always get the spotlight, but Laney Stellmaker is doing her best to change that. She's been a major contributor this season, standing out as a true all-around threat for the Panthers. Laney leads her team in multiple statistical categories, showcasing her versatility and poise on the court. She's naturally quick and composed in the back row, while also holding her own at the net with a strong block and smart attacking decisions that have her leading in kills. Add in a tough, reliable serve, she also leads her team in aces, and it's clear Laney is becoming one of the most complete young players in southern Minnesota.     Coming from outside the big metro conferences hasn't slowed down Maddie Zwart one bit. The sophomore middle has been dominating at a high level, proving that talent speaks louder than location. Maddie is a dynamic presence at the net, using her athleticism and court awareness to score efficiently, whether it's tooling the block or finding ways around it. She's already posted a season-high 23 kills, an impressive mark for any player, let alone a sophomore. Beyond the stats, Maddie's energy and consistency have been huge for her team's success, making her one of the most exciting under-the-radar middles in Minnesota.     Peyton is quickly emerging as one of Pine Island's most complete players and one of the most exciting young all-around talents in the state. She can impact the game from anywhere on the court. At the net, Peyton takes big, confident swings and connects smoothly with her pins, while her natural leadership keeps the team composed in tight moments. What truly sets her apart is her back-row presence. Her setting experience allows her to deliver perfect out-of-system balls and keep plays alive with precision. With her versatility, poise, and growing confidence, Peyton is poised for a standout career at Pine Island.     Emily Ubl may not be leading Winona Cotter in kills yet, but the sophomore is already standing out as a consistent and reliable presence on the court. She brings power to both pins, making her a threat wherever she attacks, and her serve has been a weapon for her team all season. Beyond the stats, Emily's poise and dependability are setting her up as an emerging leader for the squad. With her skill and growing confidence, she is definitely a player to watch as she continues to develop.     Ella continues to be a steady and reliable presence for Mabel-Canton. The junior's consistency at the net stands out, as she maintains an impressive hitting percentage while keeping opponents under pressure. Ella is quick and efficient moving to both pins, setting up a strong block and showing great court awareness on every play. Her combination of reliability, athleticism, and defensive instincts makes her a player to keep an eye on as she continues to grow her game.
