All five of these freshmen had an impressive first high school season, making waves at the next volleyball level.

[player_tooltip player_id="91309" first="Mia" last="Starr"], 5’8", S/RS, Central Catholic High School, Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy

Starr had a stellar freshman season, competing with the Central Catholic Rams, who finished second at the State tournament. Being one of two freshmen on the Varsity team, she stepped into a different role this season. Behind two seasoned setters, she saw court time as serving and defensive specialist for the team. She averaged a 92.9% serving percentage with an ace percentage of 17%. She is currently playing for Oregon Juniors Volleyball Academy 15-1 National team.

[player_tooltip player_id="91310" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"], 5’10", S/RS, Sheldon High School

Bruegman had a breakout freshman season, seeing playing time as a setter and right side attacker for Sheldon High School, who finished fourth in the State tournament. She was awarded Southwest Conference Honorable Mention. She has spent the off season playing on the Varsity basketball team for the Irish. Her twin sister, Elle Brugmen, was a dominant hitter for the Irish’s JV team and is currently playing on 18-2 for Webfoot Juniors.

[player_tooltip player_id="91313" first="Madison" last="Corpe"], 5’9", S, McNary High School, North Pacific Juniors

Corpe, being the lone freshman on McNary High School’s Varsity team, did not let that stop her. She made a huge impact for the Celtics, running a 5-1 as their primary setter. Corpe is able to put her team in successful situations, by keeping her sets consistent for her attackers. She is currently playing for North Pacfic Juniors Volleyball Academy 15-1 National team.

[player_tooltip player_id="91318" first="Makenna" last="Wiepert"], 5’6", S/RS, Wilsonville High School, Athena Volleyball Academy

Wiepert had a solid freshman season, competing with Wilsonville High School, who finished second at the 5A State tournament. Being the only freshman on the Varsity team, she saw court time as a serving specialist, as the Wildcats had senior setter Kennedy Juranek, a Montana State University - Billings commit, running a 5-1. She held a 25.9% ace percentage for the season. However, when given the opportunity to set, she rose to the challenge, out of 141 setting attempts, she had zero errors. She is currently playing for Athena Volleyball Academy’s 15-1 National team.

[player_tooltip player_id="91329" first="Amaya" last="Parnell"], 5’9", S/RS, Central Catholic High School, Athena Volleyball Academy

Parnell is the only freshman on this list that did not get to play at the Varsity level for the 2019 season, however, after watching her play there is a reason she is a top ranked setter. On the Central Catholic Rams JV team, she was a natural leader and used her high energy and big voice to become a presence on and off the court. Parnell has a high volleyball IQ and an all-out mentality which makes her an incredibly valuable asset to any team. When playing right side, she was able to put the ball away with her powerful swing and tricky shots. She has a tough jump serve that garnered 63 aces this past high school season, with an ace percentage of 28.90%. She is currently playing for Athena Volleyball Academy’s 15-1 National team.
