We're only a few days away from our biggest single session showcase ever in Indiana! With almost 120 athletes from around Indiana and a few sprinkled in from Illinois and Ohio, the collection of athleticism and variety that we'll have at Academy Volleyball Club on Saturday, November 29 will make every court competitive, regardless of position. Our final foray into the featured athletes that are coming talks about the middles from the class of 2029 that will show us what they've got. Here they are, in no particular order.

With a strong upper body and solid, broad shoulders, Brynli is an exceptional defensive middle that is slowly developing her offensive skills. Solid, strong hands accompany her blocking technique, making her a tough out when attacking against her. Miss Minix is an M2 at the moment, playing bigger than her 5'10” frame might otherwise indicate. She can also be used on the right side for blocking purposes, but most of what I've seen of her has her maximum effectiveness in the middle.

Long, lean and springy, Ainsley has a whip of an arm that can hit every angle from the middle. My favorite trait of hers is her constant and consistent ability to be available to hit on every play, regardless of location of the pass. This is usually the LAST thing middles learn as they develop from good to great, and Ainsley already has that aspect to her skill set. That availability, coupled with her athleticism, makes her very recruitable in the near future. Coming from a high school known for their high-end middles, she should be part of the next wave of “bigs” for the Eagles.

Strong, smart and quick, Harper's footwork allows her to not only be available on every transition play, but can run plays either in front of or behind the setter equally efficiently. To know that a kid of this level of talent and speed can be an M1 or an M2 at the next level makes her that much more marketable, regardless of her size. With a couple years of high-end training and some jump-training in the weight room, this is a kid that will definitely turn heads in the coming years.

Located on Circle's 15 White squad, Amira's athleticism and speed immediately stand out. Already seeing a full season of varsity ball at Delta High School, Amira's ability to transition with quick feet already make her more marketable than a lot of middles in this class. I need to see more live play from her, so her attendance at our Exposure Tour will give me a solid chance of just that.

Already accustomed to high-end play from TI's 14-1 squad a season ago, Cailin is yet another long, lean and quick middle that uses all of her 5'11” frame to her advantage. She can beat bigger middles with her footwork and speed, and dominates smaller middles with her reach. I haven't seen too much of this young lady either, so I'm looking forward to how she plays against both categories—-and older middles as well.

Coming from Ohio, Caroline has already spent a season as the top middle for her varsity squad. Long, springy and with seasons PLURAL of club experience, I'm looking forward to how Miss Rude can compete with others in her class, sharing her size and experience. From the looks of her, she plays bigger than her frame and can take up space on the net blocking with those long arms of hers.
