Wedo began the season absent from the varsity rotation. The sophomore forced her way into the lineup, however, and has been one of Linn-Mar’s most efficient players in 2026. It’s not surprising to me. I watched up close during the club campaign when she played alongside our daughter. Wedo was one of the team’s most improved performers by season’s end. She stands out most for her defense in the middle of the net. The success is derived from long arms, being able to jump quickly and timing. She bounces off of the court in an instant. Her attack is coming along with reps and growing confidence. The traits are in place to help her be even better there. So far in the high school season, Wedo has 72 kills (.425) in 51 sets and her 30.0 blocks lead the squad despite her playing significantly less than others in the rotation.

There is a lot to love about her general presence at the net. Wedo plays with a very confident, in-your-face block and pairs it with a fast swing. Showed great court vision with a smart, deceptive tip to the 4-hole when the deep defense dropped.

Wedo is a player with whom I’ve become very familiar. She is a teammate of our daughter on Rockets 15R this season. It’s been fun watching the Linn-Mar freshman improve as the campaign has advanced. Wedo’s defensive ability is her calling card. Fans of the game understand the value of a deterrent in the middle of the net, which describes her well. Much of her success in blocking and changing opposing attacks occurs thanks to a combination of factors. Wedo regularly reads where the two ball is headed, moves herself into position and gets off of the court quickly to meet the swing. She also possesses the requisite height and long arms at the position. Those traits make Wedo a threat on offense, too. When given the opportunity, athleticism and explosion lead to a potent attack. There’s also a chance for significant growth in this area of the game with more repetitions, which will increase confidence. Wedo is definitely one to watch for the Lions in 2026.
