We were fortunate enough to have multiple scouts in attendance this weekend. Spring Smackdown, as always it is a great tournament that is well run and competitive. There were plenty of exciting matches throughout the gym and lots of talented athletes on every court. Thank you to all the athletes and parents that stopped to say hi. Also, thank you for clipping our backpacks with inspirational messages. Let's take a look at some of the pin players from this weekend who came up big for their teams.

Paislee Wilson: Right Side Hitter for Charge South 17-1. You don't often get to see a right side hitter get to go to the back row But Paislee has the skill set that makes it possible. She's got the tall frame to be a big-time blocker and she has the hitting mechanics that allow her to be a scoring threat from the front and back row.

[player_tooltip player_id='757030' first='Pinky' last='Greening']: Outside Hitter for Apex 17-1. It goes without saying that Pinky has the best name in the gym. She also possesses a lot of different skills that allow her to be valuable and necessary in all six rotations. The set I got to watch, she really showcase her capabilities in the back row as an in transition digger. Her ability to read and react really set her apart.

[player_tooltip player_id='446329' first='Abbigail' last='Ash']: Right Side Hitter for Charge 17 Select Tulsa. Abbi has transitioned to being a right side hitter and is beginning to flourish. She has immense control when she is attacking the ball. There is not a part of the court that is safe when she is able to square up and take an approach at the ball. Her and her team were able to finish third overall in a very talented 17‘s division.

Emma Booy: Outside Hitter for HBJ 16U Kobie/Emmie. Emma is an absolute hammer. I'm sure she has more than just power at her disposal, but that's all she frankly needed every time I watched her play. She is part of an outside duo that causes issues in all 6 rotations. Her team came in as the overall top seed in the tournament and finishing third. This team was a great addition to the tournament. We love seeing out of state teams, travel to our region and give us great competition.

[player_tooltip player_id='933583' first='Julia' last='Myers']: Outside Hitter for Elevate 15.1. Julia is playing up on this very talented elevate team. She is able to do a little bit of everything but I am definitely starting to see some growth from her as a pin hitter. She is looking more confident seems to have more power in her swing this season. If she stays on this trajectory, she could really start causing some issues in the near future for opponents.
