Indiana 2A Review: Sections 41-44

<p>We continue our region-by-region review of Class 2A in Indiana by talking about the possible champs from each section and their top returners. Here you go:</p> <p><strong>Section 44: Southmont</strong></p> <p>It’s unfortunate, but inevitable, that we talk about the number of teams in 2A that ran into an amazing Heritage Christian program on their way to their first state championship in any sport. Southmont can add themselves to the list after a great 24-11 season. Listed as only 5-7, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="85758" first="Kaley" last="Remley"] (’21, Circle City 18 White, DS/OH)</strong> looks to continue her leadership for the Mounties, as her 2019 campaign had her second in kills, first in aces and second in digs. </p> <p><strong>Section 43: Heritage Christian</strong></p> <p>We celebrate HC for their epic run to their first state title in any sport. What’s scary is that they could do it again on the back of <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="85670" first="Raven" last="Colvin"] (’21, 6-0, MB, Purdue commit). </strong>She’s not the only reason for their success, as returners <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="85706" first="Elizabeth" last="Phillips"] (’21, Team Indiana Elite 18, 5-10, OH/RS) </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="85828" first="Lovie" last="Wallace"] (’22, Munciana 16 Ninjas, 6-0, MB)</strong> provide an excellent supporting cast. Color this scout surprised if the Eagles don’t repeat in 2020.</p> <p><strong>Section 42: Indianapolis Scecina Memorial</strong></p> <p>Scecina has been the main representative from Section 42 for some time, and look to repeat that feat in 2020. The Crusaders return a ton of offense, led by <strong>Abbey McCoy (’23, Academy 15 Venom, 5-9, OH), </strong>who averaged about four kills per set last fall. If Scecina can figure out who’s running this high-powered offense, they could make another serious run in the state playoffs in ’20.</p> <p><strong>Section 41: Knightstown</strong></p> <p>It’s not often I say this, but Knightstown is one of those programs that might, just MIGHT, figure out this whole volleyball thing in Central Indiana. Yes, Hagerstown owned this sectional last fall, but they graduate almost all of their offense, and don’t have much returning. Knightstown, however, has returning pin attacker <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="85789" first="Rena’" last="Witham"] (’21, Academy 17 Riptide, 5-7, DS/OH) </strong>and a ton of young talent coming back for a serious run next fall. Looks like a future road trip for this author.</p>
