Crush Volleyball Club 17 National Overview

The 17 National team led by Bob Wood won the Lexington United Volleyball Martin Luther King Remembrance Tournament 18 Girls Division in mid-January.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cooper junior setter/right side [player_tooltip player_id='782751' first='Alexis' last='Kampsen'] and two Cooper players in senior defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='894435' first='Zoe' last='Cheek'] and junior 5-11 middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id='771300' first='Gisele' last='Slayback'] had nice varsity seasons in the fall. Taylor (Ohio) senior setter/defensive specialist Evie Holbrock also had a good season in the fall, helping Taylor win another Cincinnati Hills League crown.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lawrenceburg (Indiana) has two players on the team in senior setter Estella Shealy and junior defensive specialist Ellyse Shealy. However, she still finds ways to hit over and around them for big points using her size and athleticism. She takes sharp gap shots and attacks the seams relentlessly. Slayback angles balls off blocks and uses her left (off) hand to tap balls over blocks and catch opponents off-guard. Kampsen involves a number of hitters and executes a variety of sets. Kampsen backs up and makes sound first touches. Kampsen executes both overhead and bump passes. She smokes overpassed balls to the ground and mixes in tips. Arthur also does a good job stepping toward balls then making crisp passes. She works with the other setter to run an efficient offense. Holbrock also mixes in deceptive setovers. On defense, she gets in good position, taking few steps to make sound passes. Holbrock is not afraid to stick her arms out on blocked balls. Holbrock also makes things happen as a hitter.
