Nationals Preview:Top Flight Volleyball Academy 16 National Black

Top Flight 16 National Black heads to Nationals with one of Nevada's deepest and most talented rosters. The team earned its bid in the 16 USA division at the Red Rock Rave Qualifier in Las Vegas and features ten players currently ranked among PrepDig Nevada's Top 20 in the Class of 2028. With high-level talent throughout the lineup, don't be surprised if several players from this group find a college home over the next year.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">High-Flying Pins</h2>   There is no shortage of firepower on the pins for this group. High verticals and heavy arms drive much of the team's offense, with several key attackers standing 5'10” or taller. Recent addition [player_tooltip player_id='757979' first='Charli' last='Quinto'] continues to prove that height is just a number, generating points with explosive swings from both the front and back row.   [player_tooltip player_id='550486' first='Jamie' last='Beckham'] impacts every phase of the game, contributing as a six-rotation player with a lethal swing, strong serve receive, solid defense, and consistent attacking production. [player_tooltip player_id='560291' first='Chloe' last='Garcia'] brings a diverse offensive arsenal highlighted by one of the state's best cut shots, while also adding value at the net with timely blocks.   Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='988005' first='Brixton' last='Loyd'] is playing up and showing she belongs, delivering powerful swings and key blocks against older competition. On the right side, [player_tooltip player_id='743075' first='Simone' last='Miller'] elevates above the net with a quick arm and impressive verticality, beating blockers offensively while forming a formidable wall against opposing outside hitters.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Impact Middles</h2>   Pretty tall for their age, but don't mistake this group for traditional slow, developing middles. These athletes are explosive, energetic, and know how to terminate the ball. Defensively, they form a true wall at the net, making life difficult for opposing offenses.   Standing at 6-foot-1, [player_tooltip player_id='550497' first='Kendall' last='Jaeck'] makes the game look easy. Her connection with the setter on the 3-ball is advanced for her age, allowing her to beat blockers with timing while consistently finding seams in the defense. Combine that with her ability to put up a solid block, and she's a true dual threat who impacts the match on both sides of the ball.   [player_tooltip player_id='957355' first='Payton' last='Hoague']'s high contact point creates problems for opponents, as she attacks the 1-ball with authority, finds open corners, and converts overpasses and blocking opportunities into easy points.   [player_tooltip player_id='544592' first='Eva' last='Hill'] brings a physical presence every time she steps on the court, attacking aggressively whether she's running a 1 or a 3 and consistently finding ways to score. All three middles do an excellent job staying available in transition and making themselves offensive options throughout every rally.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Back Row Ballers</h2>   No need to stress when you have these relentless defenders anchoring the back row. [player_tooltip player_id='550058' first='Ellee' last='Ford'] has been ahead of the curve in both defense and serve receive since her middle school days and continues to elevate her game. Her commitment to strength training has given her an edge over many liberos across multiple classes, allowing her to cover more court and play with confidence.   But it takes more than one great passer to build an elite defense. [player_tooltip player_id='628122' first='Ella' last='Varner'] has put in the work, recording over 500 digs and 500 receptions during the high school season. Her consistency, court awareness, and ability to keep rallies alive make her a valuable asset to any team she steps on the court with.   [player_tooltip player_id='750724' first='Daniella' last='Tapia'] shifted from a libero role last season to more of a defensive specialist role with Top Flight this year. A reliable server and disciplined defender, she consistently gets to her base quickly and is always prepared for the next play. Her steady presence and defensive instincts help strengthen an already impressive back-row unit.   [player_tooltip player_id='550058' first='Ellee' last='Ford']   [player_tooltip player_id='628122' first='Ella' last='Varner']   [player_tooltip player_id='750724' first='Daniella' last='Tapia']   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Quarterbacks</h2>   Where would a team be without its quarterbacks? Setters are the true quarterbacks of volleyball, connecting every play and making split-second decisions that put their teammates in the best position to succeed. [player_tooltip player_id='507960' first='Olivia' last='Kiel'] and [player_tooltip player_id='537711' first='Reagan' last='Cope'] are two of the best in the Class of 2028, pushing each other daily and benefiting from one another's high level of play.   Olivia has accumulated a wealth of advanced club experience, playing up in previous seasons and already becoming familiar with the national stage. She delivers absolute dimes with her jump setting, utilizing a high contact point to create opportunities for her hitters. Add in her ability to rack up aces, score with deceptive setter dumps, and keep plays alive defensively, and it's easy to see why she's one of the top setters in her class.   [player_tooltip player_id='537711' first='Reagan' last='Cope'] excels at ball distribution and placement, consistently putting her hitters in situations where they can attack open court. She does a great job varying her offense, incorporating back-row attacks and keeping opposing blockers guessing. Her decision-making and ability to run an efficient offense make her a valuable asset every time she steps on the floor.
