Addison Thompson Addison Thompson 5'7" | DS/L/OH Higley | 2027 AZ was an absolute force in serve receive and on defense throughout the Nike TOC. She plays with the kind of confidence and consistency you want from a back-row player, and she seemed to be everywhere when her team needed a ball kept alive. Her ability to read hitters stood out, especially against some of the high-level attackers she faced throughout the tournament. She anticipates well, gets herself into great defensive positions, and isn’t afraid to sacrifice her body to extend a rally.

In serve receive, Thompson provides a steady presence and does a great job controlling first contact to give her setter options. Defensively, she plays with impressive range and reacts quickly, but what makes her especially fun to watch is how aggressively she pursues the ball. There aren’t many plays she gives up on.

Thompson is also constantly communicating and bringing energy to the players around her. She’s vocal before the serve, engaged throughout the rally, and plays with a true go-getter mentality. Against a field loaded with talented attackers, she continued to make difficult defensive plays look routine. Her combination of reading ability, effort, communication, and consistency made her one of the back-row players who really stood out over the weekend.
