Alesa Hernandez, going on tour with us, as she made her appearance in Dallas and Houston for this summer’s showcases. There is some true grit to her game, hustling and making every effort to be apart of the play. Taking the time to read and react to the ball with minimal adjustments goes to show how confident she is in her ability to play this game. Proper passing form, fundamental footwork, and consistent communication are simple but shining qualities to Alesa’s game, that are only getting better.

Alesa plays for one of the more competitive clubs in Texas and it shows in how she handles herself on the floor. She was steady all day at the Houston Showcase, passing with purpose and tracking down difficult balls without making them look harder than they needed to be. At 5’3″ she plays the game entirely on instinct and technical discipline and both were on display throughout the event. Court coaches loved how she battled against every team no matter who she went up against. She never got flustered and never got too high either. That kind of even keel is exactly what a back row needs and Hernandez brings it naturally. We will continue to watch her progress and you should also. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for this showcase.

Hernandez had one of the best defensive techniques among the players in the event and was among the most productive defenders. She did everything right before making contact with the ball and during it, resulting in accurate deliveries to her setter. Hernandez’s movement was textbook, as she remained low and focused when looking for the ball in the back row. Her ball control was excellent, too, mainly because of how disciplined she is when it comes to keeping her body behind the ball and facing her target when making contact with it.
