Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Ervin first captured our attention as a hard-hitting middle blocker for Ogallala on the prep stage. She has now transitioned into one of Nebraska Juniors’ most lethal attackers, and she’s primarily doing it on the right side. This exceptional lefty is a perfect fit for the opposite position and is allowed to run a variety of routes for Nebraska Juniors 16 Black. She has even expanded her backcourt game, giving us another wrinkle for Ervin’s scouting report.

Nebraska Juniors 16 Black has seemingly infinite options in the front row. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have this Ogallala standout as a go-to option in any situation. Ervin has found her niche at the opposite position and is playing some of her best volleyball in the Nebraska Juniors gym. This high-flying lefty can score on the right, on the 2-ball in the middle, or even on the left side in first-ball situations. 16 Black makes a concerted effort to get Ervin the ball, especially during the team’s five-match winning streak in Omaha.

Nebraska Juniors 16 Black was a team to watch heading into the Midwest Power League, and that hype was backed up with a first-place finish in 16 Open. Ervin aided in the effort by locking down the right pin as an attacker and a shutdown blocker. The Ogallala standout soared behind the setter and produced several game-changing swings en route to the division title. And, like many Nebraska Juniors attackers, Ervin can trade positions and play in the middle if needed. Stocks are rising across the board in the Nebraska Juniors gym.

Ervin remains a do-everything athlete for Ogallala High School. We saw her thrive in the middle as a freshman, but she displayed her pin prowess during the 2024 season. Ervin hammered down nearly four kills per set this fall while running routes in the middle and on the left. That versatility made her a matchup nightmare for opposing teams and kept Ogallala in the wildcard hunt late in the season. We’re eager to see Ervin’s ascent continue as one of western Nebraska’s most exciting 2027 prospects.

We’ve known about Ervin’s enormous potential for a while. Her multi-position onslaught at Ogalalla produced 2.3 kills per set in Ervin’s freshman campaign. That’s a high bar to set in Year 1, but Ervin has exceeded expectations as a sophomore. Her 3.7 kills per set ranks among the best in Nebraska’s sophomore class, and Ervin is just getting started. She can play in the middle or on the pin–as long as she’s getting as many swings as possible.

We’re staying out west. Ervin first entered our 2027 spotlight when she competed with Ogallala High School at the Harvest Festival Invite in Gothenburg. The freshman attacker dazzled us with her versatility, as she thrived in the middle and at opposite. She carries a similar role with Nebraska Juniors, where Ervin’s hard-hitting style translates well to the club stage. We expect Ervin to have a big sophomore surge with Ogallala this fall, and that could precipitate her emergence in the rankings.

Ervin is making her case as one of Nebraska’s most unique prospects on the small-town scene. She’s a lefty who has already churned out great reps at middle blocker with Ogallala High School. We don’t see lefty middles very often, but Ervin makes it work. Of course, she also has the potential to be a standout opposite and has seen some time on the right for Nebraska Juniors 15 Black. Either position will yield plenty of highlight moments as Ervin’s career progresses.

Early standouts can come from anywhere. Ervin hails from Ogallala and was a dominant force when we visited the Harvest Festival Invite last September. She can adapt to playing in the middle or on the right side, as we’ve seen during her club tenure with Nebraska Juniors.

Ogallala’s underclassmen brought the heat last year. Ervin was the torchbearer for the freshman class and had 2.3 kills per set to place second on the team. It’s conceivable that Ervin could be the offensive leader next year no matter which pin she plays on. Her length and power will be used often as Ogallala keeps up with the competitive central Nebraska scene.
