Western Washington secured a verbal commitment from Skagen for next season. She is a complete six-rotation outside hitter and is excellent in serve receive and in the back row. Skagen is comfortable attacking out of the pipe and gives Kentwood extra options when they run their offense.

From Holley- “Aly is an extremely smart, deceptive hitter who moves the ball around and keeps the opposing defense on their toes. She has a great vertical, and her line shots are killer. On top of that Aly is an amazing teammate, she’s always smiling and making people laugh and I am so glad that club volleyball brought us together. Western Washington got a fantastic addition. You can always hear her yelling for people when watching film.”

The 5’9″ 2025 prospect is a terrific ball control six-rotation OH with an excellent mix of attacks in her bag. Skagen plays her school ball at Kentwood, and was a first team all NPSL selection. Playing in the middle back, Skagen is the rock in the NPJ defense. She flows easily to the corners covering shots, and eventually most teams find another player to serve. Skagen is a low error player, even when she is attacking out of system, giving her team a chance to tun a rally around and score.

Skagen is a 5’9 OH who has a high arm swing and a vertical that allows her to play big at the net. She is part of a talented NPJ Seattle 17 National team that is seeded 2nd overall at the NWPL. Skagen has an urgent transition when she gets outside, she gives her setter a nice window to work with and she can bang the ball off the block or make the defense scramble with well placed off-speed shots. She is a six-rotation player with a well developed skill set in serve receive and the backrow.

Skagen has a variety of shots in her toolbox at the outside hitter position, and is a dynamic six-rotation player. There may be outsides with a bigger arm, or more length, but the NPJ Seattle standout is near the top of the list when her whole game is taken into consideration. Her ball control is superb, and her athleticism allows her to attack with a high contact point that lets her be terminal.

Skagen is at her best running in a fast tempo offense where she can take advantage of her quickness in transition and shot making ability. That included sets coming down the middle this season for the jumpy and smart sophomore.
