The WVBA 17 Adidas setter is a superior communicator on the court, she has everyone in the right place and running the right attacks. Akolzin has a repeatable set up and she looks the same every time is ready to contact the ball. This makes her location extremely consistent and keeps blockers from overplaying hitters. Akolzin is a confident and technical player, who played with a maturity and sense of purpose at the Expo. She always moved her feet into excellent position, staying low and using an economy of motion to have a solid base when setting up. That allowed Akolzin to zip a ball with tempo to the outside or throw an accurate backset against the flow.

Akolzin had an outstanding showcase, playing gritty defense and hustling all over the gym with a smile on her face. She celebrates hard for her teammate’s success and does an outstanding job reading a defense quickly to find a good matchup for her attackers. Her well-located float serve dances across the net out of Akolzin’s hand, and gives Dakine opponents fits.

The sophomore from Kentwood High School has good size and is able to hustle and reach passes that might be off target. She is more than willing to get on the ground to dig out a cover or tip on defense, and she serves with a flat jump float. Kentwood has sophomore outside Aly Skagen who will pair with Akolzin for the next two seasons, a great starting point for the Conquerors.
