About Amerie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as smart and efficient. I am a consistent outside hitter who can score in a many situations by making strong decisions. I focus on being available and dependable during games, while contributing with my defense and serve receive. I prioritize communication and always do what’s best for team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a next play mentality and don’t let mistakes affect my confidence. I persevere through both good and challenging moments. I give full effort every point and take pride in being someone my team can rely on in all rotations. I’m hardworking, coachable, and always try to uplift my teammates and bring positive energy to the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am not currently involved in any clubs or organizations, but I have earned several non-sport awards, including the Masonic Award, multiple academic awards, and 3rd place in the SUHSD STEAM Research Fair.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed strong teamwork and leadership skills as an outside hitter in volleyball. I communicate with my teammates, encourage others, and stay focused under pressure during games. I also attend local open gyms, where I play with high school varsity athletes, both boys and girls. Competing at a higher level has pushed me to improve my skills, become more confident, and adapt quickly.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced challenges with confidence in my body as an undersized outside hitter. At times, I’ve been told I need to change physical appearance to improve, but instead of letting that discourage me, I used it as motivation to focus on my strengths. I’ve worked hard to improve my serve receive, defense, and overall conditioning.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a strong and competitive volleyball program. I want a school that will challenge me both academically and athletically, where I can continue to grow as a player and as a student. I’m also looking for a positive team environment with coaches who push me to improve.
