I watch a lot of volleyball. As a result, I own great memories of seeing student-athletes work on their games and advance them through development. Wehr is one of those kids who I’ve really enjoyed witnessing get better over time. She loves the game and wants nothing more than for her team to succeed. Being a good teammate and bringing great, positive energy to the court are a couple of her best traits. Wehr is improving her consistency when it comes to all aspects of the sport. Her sets are precise and where her attackers have the best chance to succeed. The Prairie Hawk sophomore was diagnosing the defense and making great decisions when I saw her competing against Iowa City High in a late September MVC match at Xtream Arena in Coralville.

Aubrey Wehr Aubrey Wehr 5'8" | S/RS Prairie | 2029 IA has been a setter who has continued to impress me more and more each time I watch her play. You can tell she works extremely hard to sharpen not only her skill set but also her IQ of the game. A big switch I’ve seen in a short period of time from the end of club season to now is that she’s gotten so much better with her ball placement and ability to read her opponents and make the smartest decisions based on what she’s seeing on the other side of the net. You can definitely tell she has matured not only as a setter, but as an all-around player. I am very eager to see if she continues to flourish at this rapid rate and how she’ll contribute in the off-season.

Wehr is someone with whom I’m pretty familiar, having watched her on our daughter’s team the last few club campaigns. She stood out for her versatility, selflessness and spirit, a real team player. Hard work led her to an opportunity as a Prairie Hawk ninth-grader, and she’s run with it. Her 452 assists in 77 sets led a ranked 5A team. Wehr has proven efficient with her 33 kills coming with a .462 hitting percentage. She sees the court well and takes advantage of what the defense gives up. With 113 digs and 13.0 blocks, Wehr contributes all around the court.
