About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a versatile player that can set or swing. I’m currently starting as a middle hitter & setting in the back row for my high school team. Last club season I hit middle in the front row and set in the back row. I love the game and thrive on the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’ve always had a goal to play volleyball in college. At the end of the day I’m a volleyball player and can play where needed. I’m coachable, hard working, intense, & driven.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’m a leader on and off the court. I like to encourage my teammates while also motivating them. I lead by example and take ownership in my play. I’m driven, focused, and can handle the intensity.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I wouldn’t say significant but I am able to set and play middle. It’s great to be versatile but that also comes with challenges. In order to improve I must stay after practice and do extra workouts just to accomplish the reps others are working on in a single practice. I split my time between setting, defending, hitting, & blocking. I love it all but it chan be a challenge.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’ve been fortunate to play for some of the best coaches in MN. I’m used to the intensity and demands of a quality program. My idea of fun is working hard, playing together, & improving everyday. My goal is to be a part of a successful program where I can contribute in any way.
