About Ayla

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

My biggest strength is my ability to impact every part of the game as a six-rotation outside hitter, especially with my passing and serve receive, where I focus on consistent first contacts that keep our offense in system. I am not intimidated by taller blockers & use aggressive swings & smart shot placement to score. I also read plays early, transition quickly, & apply feedback to always improve

What are you working to improve right now?

Right now, I am working to become a more explosive and consistent attacker by improving my approach, arm speed, contact point, and shot range. I also take weekly lessons focused on improving my passing and defense, along with strength, speed, agility, and plyometric training at home & in the gym.

What are you looking for in a college program?

I am looking for a competitive college program with coaches who will challenge me, give honest feedback, and help me continue developing as a 6-rotation player. I want teammates who work hard, hold one another accountable, and genuinely support each other on and off the court. I am also looking for a school with strong academics and the resources to help student-athletes succeed.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

Outside of volleyball, I am a hardworking, responsible, and competitive person who brings the same effort to school, other sports, and almost everything I do with my younger brother. I love reading, listening to music, and love watching shows together with my family in the evening. My family is very important to me, and I try to be someone others can depend on.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I enjoy working with kids and frequently volunteer at school to help younger elementary students in the classroom or during recess. I am also interested in learning how the human body works and how physical therapy can help people recover from injuries. I would like a career where I can help others heal and get back to doing the things they love.
