About Breckyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high-energy libero who takes pride in being consistent, quick, and reliable in serve receive and defense. I read hitters well, pursue every ball, and bring intensity and communication to the back row. I love being the player my teammates can trust in tough moments. I give 110% every time I step on the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m competitive, coachable, and mentally tough. I have a high volleyball IQ. I stay positive under pressure and focus on the next play, not the last mistake. I bring energy to the court, support my teammates, and work hard every day to get better.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volleyball has helped me develop strong leadership and teamwork skills. As a libero, communication and trust are essential, and I take responsibility for helping organize the defense and keeping my teammates confident. I’ve learned how to lead through effort, attitude, and consistency. I am the calm presence you want on the court in tough situations. I never give up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Balancing a demanding volleyball schedule with other sports and academics has been a challenge, but it’s taught me time management, discipline, and accountability. Competing at a high level has also pushed me mentally, helping me grow stronger and more resilient.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a strong volleyball culture, supportive coaching staff, and a team environment that values hard work and growth. Academics are very important to me, and I want to be part of a program where I can succeed both on the court and in the classroom.

Amherst’s title run brought plenty of elite scorers into the public eye, but we can’t forget about the libero holding everything down in the backcourt. Veskerna piled up over 500 digs this fall and was the focal point of the Bronco passing pattern. She also helped keep the team’s elite offense flowing with precise secondary sets in out-of-system situations. This all-around game provides yet another example of Nebraska’s small-town liberos exhibiting skills coveted at the collegiate level.

Amherst pushed through several tense, nail-biting moments en route to a state title. Those slugfests require some stability in the back row, and Veskerna provided that for this year’s D1 champion. She racked up a team-high 29 digs in the finale against Overton, but that’s just par for the course for Veskerna. This Bronco star recorded 5.2 digs per set in her junior campaign and has a great chance for a repeat bid with Amherst next fall.
