Lockdown defense has to accompany any postseason push. Amherst had plenty of prolific scorers last fall, but we can’t overlook Mitchell’s key role in the Bronco brigade. She eclipsed three digs per set last fall, but Mitchell’s trip around the dial wasn’t limited to the back row. Her occasional forays as an outside hitter demonstrated her do-everything mentality when suiting up with Amherst. That will continue into Mitchell’s upperclassman tenure.

Amherst brought the perfect balance of ball control and physicality during its Class D1 championship climb. Mitchell was part of the former, doing outstanding work in one of Amherst’s defensive specialist spots. She compiled 22 of the team’s 98 digs in the four-set battle against Exeter-Milligan/Friend, one of Class D1’s top offenses in 2025. No matter which zone Mitchell patrols, she’s bound to add value along the end line.
