For the first couple years she was my top prospect for the class of 2028. She brought height and power to the court as a setter, similar to what Carolyn Maria Carolyn Maria 6'1" | S/RS Bishop O'Connell | 2029 State VA brings to the Class of 2030. However, her preference was for the sand and she soon became difficult to find on the indoor court.

As an example of what she could do she broke the John Handley record for most kills in a match while playing as a frosh with 32. The following week she broke the record again with 33. She also played a year up for Blue Ridge when she played club and still dominated the competition at that level.

Now she will be playing beach for LSU. If her indoor career is over I may remove her from the rankings. Last year her name did not appear on the All Tournament team for the Northwestern District. She still appeared on the John Handley roster, but she no longer listed as a setter but an outside.

She has two younger sisters rising up the ranks. I believe the twins will be frosh next year. That may motivate Breeze to continue to play for the high school team.

Breeze Johnson Breeze Johnson 6'0" | OH/S John Handley | 2028 State VA also appears to have forgone club for the beach game. It is unclear how much she plays the indoor game. She holds the record for John Handley for most kills in a match with 33 done during her frosh season. She used to set as well as hit right side, but her roster position now lists only outside.

For the beach game AVP ranks her at number 6 in the class of 2028. She has an approach jump that reaches 10 feet. She recently played with Kennedy Spaid Kennedy Spaid 5'11" | OH James Wood | 2026 State #156 Nation VA to win the Chesapeake 18U Regional Bid Qualifier. This makes them eligible for the Volleyball Beach National Championship, which will be held in Virginia Beach this July.

Last year Breeze teamed with Emma White to win the 18 U national beach championship. She also won the 16 U championship teaming with Elle Sossong.

Last year she played for Blue Ridge in AAUs in Florida. For the season she was listed as a practice player. At 6’0″ with her skill set she should succeed at either indoor or beach.

Breeze broke the John Handley High School record for total kills in a game with 33 kills in a 4-set victory over District rival, Sherando, on Tuesday. She hit .500 and also had 12 digs and 5 aces in the win. Breeze originally broke the 8-year standing kill record just two weeks prior in a 3-set win over Liberty with 32 kills. Breeze has posted double-digit kills in all 17 games played this season.

While I have not gotten to see her play John Handley has gotten off to a quick 3-0 start to the season. Last year they finished a dismal 6-13. It is no doubt that this fast start can be attributed to Breeze Johnson Breeze Johnson 6'0" | OH/S John Handley | 2028 State VA .

The 6’0″ setter/opposite is an accomplished beach player who can also dominate the indoor game. She sets well but she can also put good velocity on her ball with her spikes. One of the top all around players I have watched from this class.
