Expert Analysis
Bob Abels | Prep Dig Scout
Last year Brie stood out for her setting playing for Bay Area Volleyball Club (BAVA). She set a 5/1 leading them to a bid in the Junior Nationals. As a frosh she also set for Annapolis Area Christian, usually setting in the front row of a modified 5/1. The Eagles went on to win the IAAM Bracket A championship.
That led to the opportunity to set for the newly created Metro National team. For the first tournament she was not available because of injury. However, their team is loaded with offensive players acquired from other clubs.
After finishing 5th in the City of Oaks Challenge Metro will next play in Charm City. Watch for Brie to evolve as a setter with so many weapons at her disposal.

Dakota Pentorn Dakota Pentorn 5'6" | S Annapolis Area Christian | 2027 State VA was the back row setting option for Annapolis. The junior finished as a first team selection in the IAAM. Brie was the front row option to the modified 5/1.
Brie brings athleticism to the setting position. At 5’7″ she can provide more offense in the front row than many setters. When she played for Bay Area Volleyball Academy she set a 5/1.
Not yet clear what club Brie plans to play for this year but it would not surprise me if the top clubs in the area did not contact her. She has the promise to play at the highest level, especially if she achieves an inch or two of growth.
Brie was another top performer at our DMV frosh volleyball showcase over the summer.

Brie set BAVA to an appearance in junior nationals. While she set a 5/1 and lists at 5’7″ she shows the ability to get high over the net and redirect tight passes to the floor when she plays front row. She is the third Annapolis Area Christian School player to make the top ten.
For her age Brie has an excellent sense of how to run an offense. Her quick tempo sets are on target and she brings consistent location to her outside sets. It would not surprise me that some of the better clubs in the area try to convince her to play for them this coming club season.

My first exposure to her was when I saw her setting for Bay Area Volleyball Academy at the Chesapeake Regionals. She also won a top performer award at the Prep Dig frosh showcase. In each event she stood out as one of the best at her position
She sets a 5/1 for BAVA. She does not show a lot of height yet, but she does have a good jump. At Junior Nationals, when a ball was passed tight to the net she jumped high over the net for a redirect kill. The maturity is there to run an offense. Her location is consistent while the touch is also there to run the quick tempo sets. She also exhibits a cool and calm demeanor when on the court. She does not seem to allow adversity to impact her.
Brie will attend Annapolis Area Christian School. They already have a couple talented sisters on their roster.

Bay Area Volleyball Academy stood out as one of the big surprises in the Chesapeake Bid Regional Championships. They qualified for a Freedom bid but bumped up to American as Maryland Juniors and Metro earned open bids. Brie Mouton Brie Mouton 5'7" | S Annapolis Area Christian | 2029 State VA was one of the main reasons for that success, setting a 5/1 offense. She told me she normally sets a 5/1 for the team.
She will also attend Annapolis Area Christian School as will another quaity setter at the event in Dakota Pentorn Dakota Pentorn 5'6" | S Annapolis Area Christian | 2027 State VA . Brie seems to maintain a steady calmness when on the court. Her choices and consistency in location reflect that of a much older player.

Bay Area Volleyball Academy came into the Chesapeake Regional Bid Championships a bit of an unknown. They came away earning a bid to the American Division in Junior Nationals. While the team carries talent, the leader of that talent is setter Brie Mouton Brie Mouton 5'7" | S Annapolis Area Christian | 2029 State VA . She set a 5/1 leading the offense to upset wins over Paramount Anderson and Virginia Elite to earn a bid.
Brie brings good athleticism to the position, showing the ability to also hit right side. At the 14 age group the quick sets were absent but that will develop as she gets older. Definitely a setter to watch.
