We’re always eager to discuss more setter-hitter hybrids, and Nelsen fits the bill. She exhibited her varied skill set right away when she competed in the state tournament as a Fremont freshman. When Nelsen joined the Millard North roster, she brought her familiar brand of physical, aggressive play. Her setting numbers took off this fall, culminating in one of the best assist-per-set averages in Class A. Nelsen’s upward climb gave us a lot to be thankful for in the past few years.

Nelsen has been a do-everything athlete for Nebraska Elite 17 Koa. Her smooth setting has generated headlines throughout her prep career, but Nelsen brings a lot more than that to the Nebraska Elite gym. She got plenty of reps as a frontcourt opposite throughout 2024 and was even in the passing pattern for many of those rotations. Nelsen also thrived as a floor defender and was quick to react to hard-driven balls. An important senior season is on deck.

We knew about Nelsen’s precise setting and distribution, but that’s not the only thing she’s bringing to her new squad. 17 Koa has also deployed Nelsen as a frontcourt opposite at several 2024 events, where she gets to show her prowess as a pin attacker. Nelsen has been a force on the Nebraska prep scene for a while, going all the way back to her freshman debut with Fremont. Nelsen was a big contributor in the Nebraska Juniors gym for several years, but she is joining the aforementioned 17 Red squad alongside Eggiman.
