Camila Amaya is a libero who is actively helping shape offensive decisions, not just defensive outcomes. After recognizing multiple teams shifting into four-corner defense, she immediately started feeding her pin hitters new scoring zones, helping her offense attack spaces they normally wouldn’t target.

That kind of communication changes how teams score.

Her serve receive has also become a growing strength this season, and she credits simple but important coaching feedback, moving her feet earlier and keeping her platform away from her body, for helping her become more consistent.

What stands out most is how deeply connected she is to her teammates. She talks about watching warmups, studying what will help her friends perform better, and taking pride in helping the group grow together.

As her team prepares for SCSN Championships, Camila’s game feels observant, connected, and increasingly valuable beyond the first touch.

Amaya was proud of her growth as an out-of-system setter, a skill she has been intentionally developing, and of her team’s collective defensive effort and smart offensive decision-making. She consistently contributes by analyzing opponents and communicating priorities to her teammates, a habit she believes has played a role in her team’s undefeated season so far. Her next focus is continuing to improve serve receive and strengthening on-court communication during live play. Off the court, Amaya is a member of her high school choir and has performed internationally, including in China, as well as recently at LA’s Annual Ethical Leadership Lunch.
