Stevie jumped up 28 spots as perhaps the most underrated setter in the 9th Region. Her dedication to the game really showed off last season. Stevie runs a proficient offense involving many hitters. She executes sound forward passes and does not lean much on back sets to as to tip off blockers. Stevie does not hesitate to dive to keep plays alive. Stevie will tap second balls over blockers to surprise opponents. Look for her improvements to continue during club season.

Stevie made the American Volleyball Coaches Association Phenom Watch List last year for a reason. She does an outstanding job putting her teammates in position to succeed executing a variety of long and short sets in stride. Stevie also surprises defenses with setter dumps. Stevie’s versatility shows with her precise passes and spinning serves to different parts of the court. Stevie can land aces on sound players. Stevie had 381 assists, 135 digs and 77 aces in the fall, helping NewCath win 19 games for the first time since 2017.

Carnes credited Stevie for making smart choices running the 6-2 offense. Stevie’s experience showed in this tournament. Stevie noted the team split up into various high schools after the season so it was a nice way to finish playing with each other.

Stevie (pictured) showed a lot of promise as a freshman and has moved into a captain role with the 15 National team. Club head coach Jessica Carnes credited Stevie for encouraging her teammates and staying positive on and off the court. Stevie does a great job mixing up plays and getting many hitters involved. Stevie is currently nursing a high arches foot injury, but could return soon. Stevie finished with 160 assists for the Thoroughbreds this past season.

Stevie earned the chance to experience the speed of the varsity level as a freshman on a senior-laden team and took full advantage of the opportunity. Stevie showed gradual improvement as the season rolled along. She learned the hitters well and tried to put them in position to succeed. Newport Central Catholic head coach Angie Reckers is big on players anticipating where balls are going then going hard after them and Stevie tries to do that. She moves under balls and squares her arms up with them to make sound passes. Stevie had 160 assists for the Thoroughbreds this past fall.

Stevie’s dedication showed the moment she set foot on The Hill and saw significant varsity action as a freshman on the senior-laden team. Stevie took some lumps learning the speed of the varsity level, but will only grow from it. Stevie threw off defenders often hitting balls at the net on first or second contacts including the setter dumps. Stevie showed she’s not afraid to take swings when the team is out of system. Stevie had 160 assists backing up the senior setter this past season.
