Claire O’Hollearn had the confidence of a setter who understood the art of setting up scoring opportunities, not just passing the volleyball. She always put hitters in good one-on-one situations, made life difficult for opposing blockers by spreading the offense, and mixed tempos well. Her willingness to attack on second contact kept the defenses honest, giving her more options during the rally. Ohana Volleyball Club has churned out quality ball-control players lately, so O’Hollearn’s stellar showcase performance is no surprise. Like Seidl, O’Hollearn had her share of powerful swings to accompany her finesse as a setter. The future Johnston Dragon has boosted her development through the Up Next Showcase and will likely appear in our 15s coverage next spring.
