Expert Analysis

Bartling elevated her greatness through this year’s state tournament. She averaged about three kills per set during the regular season but upped those numbers considerably when Elkhorn South traveled to Lincoln. The high-flying left-side hitter put down 19 terminations as the Storm secured a straight-set quarterfinal win over Fremont. Bartling followed that up with another double-digit output in a sweep over Grand Island. She soars to No. 14 on our list heading into her debut club season with VCNebraska , and we can’t wait to watch this new pairing.

Elkhorn South’s postseason return would not have been possible without Bartling. She led the Storm with over 250 kills and brought enough athleticism to match up with Class A’s most physical frontcourt. We watched Bartling’s upward trend begin during the club season when she carved up opposing defenses from the left pin. Expect the same thing in 2025, but Bartling is changing the venue for next year. She joins VCNebraska 17 Elite and can offer some instant impact to the club’s new-look roster.

Elkhorn South operated through its pin hitters in Friday’s 3-0 semifinal win over Grand Island. This allowed Bartling to showcase her prowess as one of the team’s leaders at the position. Bartling is a rangy hitter who understands how to use the block on less-than-ideal sets. This extends to her role in the backcourt, which has steadily become a fixture in Bartling’s game. These all-around skills will be vital when Elkhorn South faces Papio South for the Class A title.

Bartling raises the bar every time she suits up for Nebraska Elite. She was one of our biggest standouts from this year’s Midwest Power League, but Bartling didn’t stop there. Nebraska Elite 16 Lokahi looked to their star outside hitter to put away some clutch swings at Show Me. She always found a way to come through while reaching higher and higher with every swing. We can’t wait to see what the fall season brings for this Elkhorn South star.
