A former hitter, she understands how to read an attack and uses that IQ to control the back row. She recently surpassed 1,000 career digs and continues to be a steadying force for the Lady Bears.

Eden | L | Northside

Eden is one of the best in the business. She’s quick, intuitive and, as a former hitter, understands positioning and how to read an attack. She recently reached 1,000 career digs and has been a steadying force on the back row for Coach Matthew Waack and the Lady Bears.

Her first contact is solid, and she can run down just about anything. What really stands out to me is her positioning. Eden reads the play early and gets herself behind the ball, allowing her to stay on her feet and make controlled digs on balls that force a lot of defenders to the floor.

And the numbers back up what you see. She currently leads the state in both digs and digs per set.

When the new 2027 rankings drop, Eden will be my No. 1 defender in the state for 2027. She has the numbers, the skill and the volleyball IQ. For college coaches looking for a back-row defender, somebody needs to snatch her up.

Most teams look to their seniors for leadership, and Northside will be counting on veteran libero Eden Fields Eden Fields 5'2" | DS/L Northside | 2027 State AR to fill that role. She is the steady hand that keeps the Lady Bears organized defensively and allows the offense to operate efficiently. Fields led Northside with 532 digs and 545 serve receptions in 2025, and her role will become even more important this fall as the Lady Bears look to return to the playoffs. Coach Matthew Waack guided one of the state’s youngest teams a year ago. Now, that young core returns with valuable experience in what is arguably Arkansas’ toughest conference, the 6A West.

Fields brings an energy to the court that is hard to miss. A former pin hitter, she embraced the libero position and has flourished ever since. Her quickness allows her to cover an incredible amount of floor, while her experience as an attacker gives her a unique ability to read hitters and anticipate where the ball is headed. She rarely gives up on a play and consistently delivers quality first-ball contact, allowing Northside’s setters to keep the offense in system. Every successful defense starts with a reliable libero, and Fields gives the Lady Bears exactly that.

Her 532 digs ranked among the state’s leaders while her 587 serve receptions illustrate her importance in serve receive. Fields quietly impacts matches through consistency, limiting errors while providing dependable first contacts. Her experience will counted on this season to lead a very solid Northside team that competes in what many think is the toughest division in the state, the 6A West.

Fields didn’t just earn the libero jersey, she dominated in it. She finished with 532 digs and a strong 5.1 digs per set, along with 545 receptions and 12 service aces. Her consistency in serve-receive and her ability to control the back court made her one of the most impactful defensive players in NWA this season.
