Ferguson (*pictured) is an aggressive hitter, especially when she can close her approach work to the ball and get enough lift to drive up and take big swings. Competing for Mintonette m.63, she does a lot for this squad in her ability to score at either pin and from the back row. She contributes with her ball control and defense with good reaction and control of her platform and angles. This team will next complete at MEQ this coming weekend.

Hitting a heavier-than-expected ball from both pins, Ella spent a lot of her time on the right side on Saturday, and was strong in her upper body. Usually, a kid this size might not fit on the right side because of her blocking. Not true with Miss Ferguson, as she more than makes up for it with a solid, hands-first block that rarely was out of position. On the attack, she’s more than capable of making adjustments to inconsistent setting—-which she had to do multiple times—-and still find ways to terminate the play. Eliminate her size from the equation and watch Ella play this spring; her athleticism and high volleyball IQ are more than enough to find her way to a college roster in a couple of years.

I’ve see Ferguson mainly on the right side of the court where she can be an offensive factor with good movement in her approach pattern and the ability to guide the ball through open space upon contact. Competing for Mintonette ‘s second 15U team, she helps to complete their offense through both pins with ability to score in other areas if needed. Her Elevation and balance in the air improves if she can get both arms involved in double-arm lift action. With a lot of time to develop that movement, she has a good foundation in place.
