Florez is the No. 1-ranked athlete in the Kansas Class of 2026 and ended her prep career being named to the KVCA Class 6A All-State Tournament Team. Mill Valley was unable to win its third state championship in a row, so I am sure Florez is upset with how the season ended, but to be clear, her prep career had a giant bow on it. She was a three-time, three-time member of the All-State Tournament team. Florez finished her high school career with more than 3,300 assists. She has verbally committed to Iowa State University.

Dynamic would be an understatement for Ella Florez out of the Kansas City area. The setter has been part of a really talented Pohaku club squad who is sending athletes across the country for their next journey. Florez will head to Iowa State where the Cyclones have been incredibly successful with athletes from the Kansas City Metro. They currently have one of the top liberos in the Big 12 in Rachel Van Gorp and emerging outside hitter Alea Gooslby. Florez always finds a way to contribute and could see an immediate impact for Iowa State.

To win this tournament, some team is going to have to knock off the defending champion Jaguars. Not an easy task. Florez directs the Jaguar offense. She has dished out 853 assists in 89 sets played this season. She surpassed the 3,000-career assist mark this season. She enters the tournament sitting on 3,212 career assists. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that she could reach 3,500 assists for her career with a deep run this weekend. Florez is ranked No. 1 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026 and has verbally committed to Iowa State University. Mill Valley owns a record of 31-4 and will be the No. 1 Seed in the tournament that begins on October 31.

There won’t be a ton of movement in the Top 20 in the next Kansas Class of 206 rankings, and the current No. 1-ranked athlete in that class will continue to hold that position. Mill Valley’s Florez is a gifted setter who has verbally committed to play at Iowa State University. She is a tall setter who can control the net in multiple ways. The Jaguars will be an early favorite to repeat as State Champions.

Florez is the No. 1 overall ranked athlete in the Kansas Class of 2026 and the top-ranked setter. She has multiple benchmarks that she can reach during her senior season. She has recorded 2,359 career assists, and back-to-back seasons with more than 900 assists. She could reach 2,500, 3,000, or even 3.,500 with another big season for the Jagaurs. More importantly, she will look to lead Mill Valley to its third straight Class 6A State Championship.
