When Ella gets a hold of an attack, the ball just SOUNDS different coming off of her hand. Able to hit any zero-tempo attack in front of or behind the setter, Miss Vandermark has a D1-bound setter feeding her perfect sets regularly, which should show Miss V’s skills in her most important recruiting year. Her long arms also allow her to defend from pin to pin well. All of these skills put together make Ella one of the more well-rounded middle recruits in this class, and her open-level schedule this spring will solidify her ability to play tough competition for years to come.

Put speed and legitimate size together, and you get Ella. An absolute force on offense, the ball coming off of Ella’s hand just SOUNDS different, and there’s a pace to her ball that has knocked more than her fair share of defenders on their backs. She thrives on sets in front of the setter, and has mastered every angle on every possible set in front of the setter. That’s not to say that she isn’t going to play M1, but that her strengths lie in being the middle next to the right side. No matter where you put her, you’ve got a difference maker in the middle once she arrives on campus.

Ella was so fun to watch at the Gauntlet. She is dynamic and can swing effectively both in front of and behind the setter. Her slides were near-perfect every time I saw her swing. Not only is she powerful on offense, but she has great control as well, she mixes up her swings and is very efficient.

Ella caught my eye because she adjusted very well on the court. Even if she did not have the best connection with a setter, she could still find a way to make an athletic play on the ball. She got great touches on block as well and was disciplined in her footwork and movement.
