Rylee, Danville’s libero, is THE best passer in this program. She showed out in a match that meant very little, which goes to the high character this Valpo commit brings to the court. She even spent a little time on the left side in set two of their match against Monrovia, mixing in a few beach rolls and smart shots. I like this kid’s positive attitude and her physical attributes that will make her a tough and consistent passer in the MVC in the fall of ’26.

From primary-passing outside for her high school team to a steady and consistent libero for her club program, Rylee has moved quickly from exceptional small-school player to Division 1 recruit in committing to Valparaiso recently. Always in the right spot and always under control, Valpo gets a reliable and efficient passer that can do a little of everything in a pinch.

Rylee was well-rounded at the libero position. She consistently did each aspect of the position well. Her serve receive was clean and efficient and her defense was explosive. Rylee impressed me with her court awareness and the amount of space she covered in the back row.

Last year Circle City 15 Purple was down a couple athletes so Bumgardner was playing on the the outside. She played with no fear and a high IQ to be highly effective. This 16s season, she is playing in her natural position of libero. She seems like the player who you could ask her to do anything and she will step in and find a way to get it done. As a libero she is so composed and relaxed with her platform. She can pick up the chaotic plays and find a way to get the offense started. So solid and dependable.

Bumgardner is smaller but really explosive. She has a number of different shots that she can use. Bumgardner can thread the ball down the line when there is just a small alley to put it. She works well around the block or goes uses the edges of the block efficiently. Bumgardner can also put some pace on the ball to score the point deep in the court.
