About Emery
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My gameplay style is calm but quick. I am a natural leader and I really take that onto the court with me leading my team. I am also a very loud player. You will always here me talking to my teammates and saying what I see on the other side of the net. I am always ready to put my body on the line for a ball and my hype to my teammates is unmatched.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
My mentality is winning. I go out on that court wanting to win. I give my all into every single play. I lock in when I need to but I can also be very silly. My biggest things about me is my personality. I am a very silly funny person that loves to have fun and volleyball is where I find the most fun.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Yes. I am in a FCA club which is Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and we meet once every week to talk about how we can grow in God through our sport. I am my highschools boys volleyball manager so I help them at games doing stats and at practice. I have received all A-Honor roll awards throughout middle school and highschool.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I am a leader. It just comes to me naturally. I am not afraid of what people think of me I just go out on that court and be the best I can be for my team and me. I am speaking every play telling my teammates where the open spots are on the court or where the other team is going to hit.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Yes I have faced multiple challenges but my biggest one was having a heart attack. I have been playing volleyball my whole life and was on the 1's team my 9's and 10's but when I was 11 I had a life threatening heart attack. it was a birth defect I had that was not found when I was born or at any doctors appointments. This is my why in why I want to play college volleyball. To prove to myself!
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that is going to take me for me. I want to go to a college that is D1 or high D2. I want to feel welcomed to a college and that I feel as if they really do want me to play volleyball at their college.
