About Emmy

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a leader on the court. I am smart and aggressive with fast, quick hands that allow me to set the ball where it needs to be for the kill!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I feel that I do a great job on the court to help my teammates lock in when they are struggling! I stay calm even in high-stress situations, which helps me stay focused and get the job done!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I put a lot of time and effort into volleyball, but I also love reading and am a part of numerous book clubs. I also spend a lot of time at church, helping out with our youth groups and studying my bible.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel that my personality and work ethic bring the team together, and that is one of the most important things to me. If you aren't playing as a team, you won't win. It's important to be in sync with your teammates. I feel that I do a great job of refocusing our team if we have made a few bad plays to get us back on track.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I got injured when I was 12, which caused me to miss most of club tryouts. I didn't make the team I wanted but I used that time to reflect on what I needed to do to improve. While recovering after surgery, I would sit in my bed and do 2000 sets a day against my wall. I feel that daily drive not only built strength but also helped me learn to overcome adversity and made me mentally tough!

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play at a college that wants to win, work hard and pushes me to be the best person and player I can be. I want to be the best setter and contribute to the team to win. I hope to find a college that blends hard work with a family atmosphere.
