Extremely well-rounded and reliable, the outside hitter is involved with everything her team does on the court, often getting several touches on the same play. Santiago is extremely technical with her defensive actions, which allows her to be very active and cover a lot of ground in serve-receive. Offensively, she is very explosive, getting off the floor well and hitting the ball with tremendous power. Because she’s so important tot he team, Santiago is set on the left, the right and even the middle back position, scoring with consistency.

Playing one age group up, Santiago and her TAV Houston 16 Adidas teammates ranked third with two wins and three losses. The technical and consistent outside hitter was a key piece in the team’s playing system, contributing on both sides of the ball. Santiago played a big role in the team’s serve-receive system, passing with efficiency and also getting several touches on defense. When at the net, she used her impressive vertical and excellent vision to beat the blockers and score with consistency from the left and the right.

Santiago was a key piece in the TAV Houston 16 Adidas team that went undefeated with seven victories and earned a bid to the Nationals. Her all-around game proved to be of great value for the team as she offered big contributions on both sides of the ball. Santiago was extremely reliable with her passing and also got several touches on defense, but was at her best offensively. She got off the floor very well, was excellent with her shot selection and scored with great efficiency from the left and the right. The outside hitter also showed great vision and resources to score when facing heavy blockers on in out-of-system plays.

The sophomore outside hitter was easily Oak Ridge’s best player on the court as she produced extremely well defensively and offensively. Santiago split the court with libero Lily Campos in serve-receive in some rotations and did a good job with her passing, avoiding errors and playing efficiently. She was also very active on defense, getting several touches at the middle back position. The outside hitter was also the centerpiece of the team’s offense, at times even overloaded, but made good use of her length to find good angles and score.

Oak Ridge’s leading scorer in her freshman season, Santiago has the potential to deliver even more as a sophomore. She had a strong club season with TAV Houston and has emerged as an interesting outside hitter in her class. Santiago is not very tall, but jumps well and is very quick on the court. Her great mobility and strong technical skills make of her a very smooth player on the court as she makes all of her actions in a very straightforward and efficient way. Santiago is a solid player on both sides of the ball and also helps with her passing and defense.
