We have written about Gloria a few times this club season, and she has been a big standout for Aspire, and has really blown up this club season with her game play. Gloria is a big middle, and shows great technique with her ability to press over the net and get a ton of stuff blocks. She does an excellent job reading hitters and closing blocks, consistently taking away cross-court angles while showing disciplined hands and strong timing against both pins and opposing middles. She wins more one on ones as a middle blocker over what is the norm, she could be one if not the best solo blocker in the class.

Offensively, she is a reliable scoring option that can run multiple tempos and stay available throughout extended rallies. She attacks quick sets aggressively, gets off the floor fast, and shows the ability to adjust midair to different ball locations. Her transition footwork is advanced for her age, helping her create opportunities even when plays are out of system for a middle, she finds ways to be available if needed. She sees the court well and will take what a defense will give her but can also win with power through and around a block when needed.

Gloria separated herself this season with a combination of consistency, athleticism, and competitive intensity that few players in her age group could match.

Gloria is a name that is fully on our radar as we move forward this club season. She is a middle blocker who really stood out this last month, but is someone who is going to fly up recruiting radars over the next year based on her game play.

The first thing that stands out about Gloria is her physical presence at the net. She does really well closing blocks and pressing over the net with discipline as she never gets called in the net. She not only gets a ton of blocks but also creates problems even when not recording blocks by taking away space from hitters with how much space she takes up and how well she closes her block. As someone with her first hand experience playing against Gloria, she can really change the game for her team with this ability at the net. Elite blocker in the making would be the best way to describe her to some!

Offensively there is a lot to like about her game, she is very tall and can take a hit above a block that is in front of her. She also can run a fast tempo offensive and seems to connect well with all her setters on her team. She has the footwork and speed to develop all aspects of a middle’s offensive game so look for her to become a force on the offensive end as the season progresses.

Gloria really has all the tools in front of her to be a top level middle in her class and the state. She really showed up this last month with her game play and ability to impact the game as a middle. Expect that trend to continue over the course of the next few years as well. She is someone to get out and see if you have some time this weekend too!
