Freshman Who Made an Impact

The 2029 class has quickly begun to make its presence felt across the AZ club volleyball landscape this season, stepping into competitive roles and showing maturity beyond their years. We have had a number of 2029's that have shown up and dominated this season! Although we can't write about all of them, we at PrepDigAZ wanted to take a chance to talk about these 8, from 8 different clubs that have been players who have made an impact! As the season continues, this group is starting to establish itself as one to watch in the years ahead, with several players already separating themselves through early-season production and composure in key moments. Taylin is capable of doing so much for a team with her offensive game. She can run the quick out of the middle, and run behind the setter and connect at a high level. Being able to run the full gauntlet of offense really makes you stand out with your level of play.   On the defensive side she is also a force. She has great footwork and is able to read the game and anticipate well to set the block on the pins. She has a high vertical that allows her to take up space and be physical at the net by pressing over to take away those angles. She also shows a high court IQ on both sides of the net by being able to anticipate where the ball is going on defense to set up her block and on offense seeing the openings and taking what the defenses give her.   One of the biggest breakout performers in the 2029 class this season, consistently standing out with her ability to impact matches against high-level competition. Her confidence, production, and overall court presence elevated throughout the year, firmly establishing herself as one of the more exciting young prospects to follow moving forward.     Emery has stood out this club season in the 15s age group with her steady and consistent game play throughout the region matches, and her ability to stand out at NQs. She is a consistent offensive presence from both the front and back row, showing the ability to terminate in system while also staying aggressive in transition situations. Her arm swing is fluid and efficient, and she does a strong job mixing shots, attacking seams, and making smart decisions against different defensive looks. What stands out most is her ability to stay effective throughout an entire match without disappearing for long stretches, maintaining a high level of energy, competitiveness, and composure even in pressure moments.   Defensively, she competes hard throughout a match, covers tips, and transitions quickly into attack mode after digs. Her court awareness stands out, especially in how she tracks hitters and anticipates angles. Even when she is not the primary terminator, her impact is felt through consistency, effort, and decision-making that keeps rallies alive and gives her team more scoring opportunities.   Emery is a player who consistently looked like one of the best athletes on the floor throughout the season, showing major growth in both skill and overall maturity. Her ability to influence the match in multiple phases made her a difficult matchup and a clear difference-maker every tournament weekend.     We have written about Gloria a few times this club season, and she has been a big standout for Aspire, and has really blown up this club season with her game play. Gloria is a big middle, and shows great technique with her ability to press over the net and get a ton of stuff blocks. She does an excellent job reading hitters and closing blocks, consistently taking away cross-court angles while showing disciplined hands and strong timing against both pins and opposing middles. She wins more one on ones as a middle blocker over what is the norm, she could be one if not the best solo blocker in the class.   Offensively, she is a reliable scoring option that can run multiple tempos and stay available throughout extended rallies. She attacks quick sets aggressively, gets off the floor fast, and shows the ability to adjust midair to different ball locations. Her transition footwork is advanced for her age, helping her create opportunities even when plays are out of system for a middle, she finds ways to be available if needed. She sees the court well and will take what a defense will give her but can also win with power through and around a block when needed.   Gloria separated herself this season with a combination of consistency, athleticism, and competitive intensity that few players in her age group could match.     Chloe is a setter who has some of the best hands we have seen from this class. She has stood out with her ability to not only run a fast offense, but contribute in other ways with her defense, serving, and court IQ. She shows advanced decision-making for her age, consistently making smart choices with tempo, location, and hitter matchups while keeping her offense balanced in all situations. Her hands are clean and consistent, allowing her to deliver accurate sets from multiple areas of the court, even when plays break down or passes drift off the net   She also does well with her serving and defense in a match as well. She knows who to target with her serve, and is capable of hitting zones to attack weakness in other teams serve receive. She also moves well, and shows good footwork in her defense. Being able to be a capable defender and get good passes on hard driven balls, along with picking up tips when needed as well.   Few players in the 2029 class made a stronger impression this season with the way she consistently stood out against quality competition. Her ability to perform at a high level in key moments, while continuing to expand her overall game, showed why she is viewed as a player with major long-term potential.     A pin hitter from Club Cactus, Rainey has really stood out with her game play on the right side this season. Rainey is capable of hitting from all spots on the floor but has shown the most dominate ability on the right side. She is a lefty and does a really good job being able to hit down the line, hard cross, and throw in some off speed shots when needed. She seems to always find the open spot and takes what the defense gives her. She is a top point getter for her team and seems to pop on film each and every match.   She also does well on the defensive end, especially with her blocking and ability to slow down outside hitters on opposing teams. She has a great ability to close on the pin and take away the space a hitter is looking for, along with being over the net and shutting down hard driven balls. Rainey also can play some defense and dig balls as well. Showing a all around ability as an athlete that is really makes her stand out. She moves well and is able to transition from offense to defense and can do a little of everything for her team.   Rainey is someone whose game continues trending upward, showing noticeable improvement in both consistency and overall court presence. The long-term upside is significant, especially as her physical game continues to evolve which makes her a player to watch over the course of the next few seasons.     Anna has jumped up on radars throughout the season and has really stood out with her game play this year. Listed as a middle/right side, Anna has stood out to us with her play in the middle. Anna works hard to establish positioning early, which allows her to be effective both as a blocker and attacker. She runs a effective attack out of the middle, being able to score points from a quick tempe set or a slide behind the setter as well. She can do a lot in terms of her offense for her team which just adds to her value as a player.   What also makes her especially intriguing is the room she still has to grow within her game. As her strength, timing, and offensive range continue to improve, she has the tools to become a major difference-maker in the front row. She competes hard, communicates well with teammates, and brings energy that positively affects the pace of the match. Even at a young age, she embraces the demanding responsibilities of the middle blocker role and continues to show improvement against stronger competition.   She competes with confidence, plays with consistent energy, and shows the type of work ethic that translates to long-term success. The foundation is already in place for her to develop into a high-impact player within the 2029 class.     Sylvie is a standout setter and has really come a long ways this club season. She really came into our view as a standout with her ability to run a offense from all places on the floor. She is someone who has a ton of strength and is able to push from all places on the floor to a great location on the pin for her hitters. She has a ton of strength and that shows in her ability to push the ball from tough locations on the floor. She sees the game well and is able to put her hitters in the best position to be successful.   Defensively, she is active and reliable, showing quick reactions, solid positioning, and the ability to extend rallies with tough defensive plays. She also contributes from the service line with consistent pressure and placement that disrupt opposing offenses which only leads to more in system plays for her side. She is a setter who can do it all for her team and someone who has really come into her own this club season.   Her development over the course of the season was impossible to ignore, as she consistently rose to the level of competition and performed well against some of the top teams she faced. The combination of natural talent and growing confidence allowed her to emerge as one of the more impactful 2029 prospects in attendance at multiple events     Violett is really coming into her own and has stood out with her play over the whole club season. A steady presence in the middle all season, she has stood out with her all around game. Her ability to transition from defense to offense is exceptional, getting off the net quickly and staying available in multiple offensive tempos throughout rallies. She moves well laterally along the net, shows natural timing as a blocker, and already understands how to read attackers and close seams effectively. Her length and explosiveness allow her to impact matches defensively, while her quick transition footwork helps her stay active offensively throughout rallies.   Offensively, she is effective running quick sets in front of the setter, attacking gaps in the block, and finishing with confidence in transition situations. She is fast and gets off the ground quick allowing her to get a ton of 1 on 1 situations as a middle, and with how well she swings and the force behind it.. she wins more of those over other middles in her class. She has the offensive and defensive game to be elite at this level.   This season showed just how high her ceiling can be as she continued to dominate stretches of matches with her physicality, energy, and improving all-around game. She not only produced statistically but also changed the momentum of matches with the way she competed and carried herself on the court.
