Whalen got my attention with her play for Marion at an early-season tournament last high school season. She still was working out some kinks in taking over as the Wolves’ starter but by the end of the season she’d figured it out. She’s carried over that consistency to the club campaign and is poised to take another step forward in the fall. Her 784 assists last season ranked 10th in Class 4A. Whalen has improved her attack and defense at the net.
