Tompkins does a great job at closing the block with speed and precision. On the offensive side of the ball she has a very heavy arm. When she is in the air and ready to pull the trigger, watch out, because she gets a fast swing on top of the ball for a kill.

Tompkins has quick footwork and is very fast laterally along the net.  She consistently closes the block and does a great job reading the opposing offense.  She has height to go with the speed and she can outrun some blockers while others she can just go over because of her high reach and fast arm wing.  Tompkins is a highly valuable offensive player and she excels in the middle blocker position.
