Isabella Torres Wallace Isabella Torres Wallace 6'1" | MB ICL academy | 2029 State CA has a knack for showing up when the trophies are handed out. She helped her club team to first place in the USA division at the Salt Lake City tournament and again at Red Rock Rave this spring. She also won a bronze medal at nationals in 2025. Now she adds a spot on the Prep Dig California Class of 2029 State Ranking List to that impressive resume. The 6’1″ middle is a natural blocker who presses her hands over the net and closes quickly to the pins. In my review of her highlight reel, her footwork along the net was the first thing that jumped out. She uses a clean crossover step and arrives balanced, which keeps her from drifting into the net or her pin blocker. She already has multiple solo blocks against varsity competition, including two in a single match against Torrey Pines. On offense she is efficient and hits the quick with confidence. Congratulations to Isabella on joining the top middles in the 2029 class.

Isabella Torres Wallace Isabella Torres Wallace 6'1" | MB ICL academy | 2029 State CA is sharpening her block against the setters she faces every day.

Torres-Wallace is a sophomore middle blocker. In April, she told us her coaches wanted her reading the setter instead of guessing on her block, and she mentioned that she also plays soccer as a goalkeeper.

Isabella’s Voice
“I think my reading the setter and not guessing on the block has definitely grown, but I still have a lot of work to do and more progress to make. Playing at Sierra Canyon has taught me so much with this skill because I get to play with D1 athletes every day and every practice gets more challenging and the pace is so fast, so this really challenges my reading and my block, because I have to read against Lucky, Olive, and Daisy and Sydney. It is definitely difficult but playing against them has made me grow so much in my blocking and has helped me not guess, which I am super grateful for.”

She says the work is not finished, which is a good sign, and she credits the four setters she reads against every day. Facing setters of that caliber in practice is a sound way to build a block.

One of the biggest improvements I’ve seen over the past club season has come from Isabella Torres Wallace Isabella Torres Wallace 6'1" | MB ICL academy | 2029 State CA . Her approach is stronger, more explosive, and allows her to attack the ball with greater authority. Just as important, she wants the ball in critical moments. That confidence, paired with her passion for the game, has transformed her into a much more dangerous attacker than I saw earlier in the season. Her trajectory continues to point in the right direction.

Her leadership shows in how she centers her team on controllables, reinforcing focus and encouraging positive energy even in tight match situations. That presence helps maintain composure and keeps her team competing point by point.

She is currently developing her blocking through better reads, focusing on tracking the setter and improving her hand positioning over the net. That awareness is helping her become more effective in closing space and making disciplined blocking moves.

Watching courtside, Isabella Torres Wallace Isabella Torres Wallace 6'1" | MB ICL academy | 2029 State CA consistently controlled the middle with presence and discipline well beyond her class. At 6’1″, she established early as a true net anchor, showing advanced timing, closing blocks, and sealing seams with strong hand positioning across the tape. What stood out most was how well she read the setter — she wasn’t guessing, she was reacting with purpose, taking away angles and forcing hitters into uncomfortable swings.

Offensively, Torres Wallace ran clean routes and stayed available in transition, showing strong footwork on her approaches and finishing with authority in rhythm. She wasn’t rushed, stayed composed, and created momentum swings with her efficiency. For a 2029, her physicality and court awareness clearly separated her throughout the day. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas
