Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Here’s a setter-opposite who did a little of everything at last week’s tournament. We’re used to seeing multi-position gems in the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller lineup, and the Mustangs unleashed Hoos in this regard. The senior logged nine kills, 20 assists, and a team-high 18 digs during S-E-M’s quarterfinal win against BDS. Being active in so many phases is a challenge for any prep athlete, but Hoos had seen her share of high-level matches before. Last week’s tournament was a fitting conclusion to her decorated career.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller ran a two-setter offense en route to this year’s Class D1 title, and Hoos commanded half of that system as a sophomore. Her influential role was not limited to distribution, as she also compiled an impressive volume of digs for the Mustangs. Hoos’ ability to keep feeding the hot hand was a major factor in this year’s championship glory, and a new challenge awaits in 2024.

We’ve seen plenty of multi-talented athletes in the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller lineup, and you can add Hoos to that discussion. She is primarily known for running the Mustang offense out of the back row, but she is also apt to get her share of swings in the frontcourt, too. Whether its at setter or as a pin hitter, Hoos is elevating S-E-M’s standing as a postseason contender once again.
