Greathouse should see a good number of swings considering her experience with Barntsen and Kok. Greathouse not only attacks well, she attacks smart. Greathouse slows things down enough to put the right amount of power on balls. She places overpassed balls down with precision. Greathouse also brings a lot of valuable play defensively. She makes nice first touches. Greathouse said she still expects opponents to try to limit Barntsen’s touches, keeping the Spartans out of system, but they hope to figure out how to counter that. Greathouse said she’s tried to stay in the gym trying to stay sharp for the fall.

Greathouse (pictured) has shown the ability to influence the net on both offense and defense. Greathouse makes things happen on ones and gaps. She is also not afraid to adjust in mid-air then shove balls to corners for big points. She’ll benefit from the angles Barntsen is able to put balls to. Defensively, Greathouse reads hitters well and goes up for timely blocks. Greathouse forms sound double blocks with teammates. Greathouse had 120 kills, 28 solo and 34 assisted blocks in the fall, helping Sayre go 29-9 overall, driving to the in-season All “A” Championship Flight quarterfinals and make it to the 11th Region Tournament for just the second time in program history.

Greathouse helps the Spartans control the net with a nice vertical. She takes huge rips on go routes to the back row from the middle and the pins. Greathouse also has good timing on her blocking. Greathouse slows balls down for defensive specialists. She does a good job placing overpassed balls away from defenders.

Greathouse provided sound net defense for the Spartans, at least getting touches on Owens after the first set. She landed some big blocks during the game. Greathouse also took some big rips in the front row sending balls screaming to the back row for big points. Greathouse said Owens has a really hard swings so it’s hard to dig her up when they go flying to the floor so it was important to get blocks up on her.
