Another East Coast Volleyball Club player who impressed at the Junior Nationals, first winning a top performer award at the National Prep Dig showcase, then performing well hitting outside for East Coast. That got her ranked in the top ten of our class of 2030.

At 6’0″ she carries good height for an outside hitter. She plays a full six rotations showing the ability to pass and play defense. She also can provide offense in the back row.

In the gold bracket match against Ocean Lakes she had her share of kills in the first set to keep First Colonial in the set. Her last kill gave First Colonial a 23-21 lead, but they eventually lost the set 25-23. Julia still has a tendency to tip when the set is not to her liking. As she gains more experience improving her transition game she will put a number of those balls away.

She won a top performer award at the Prep Dig Junior Nationals showcase with her ability to put power on the ball hitting outside. Her play shined at the Junior Nationals as the outside hitter for East Coast Volleyball Club . She plays with middle Arina Huseva Arina Huseva 6'1" | MB Ocean Lakes | 2030 State VA , another player who appears number three on this top ten list.

Since First Colonial does not have a Junior Varsity or Frosh team there is no doubt she will make the Varsity. It does appear that she was hitting left side for First Colonial at the Colgan Jamboree. She is a six rotation player who can create offense for you whether she is playing front or back row.

First Colonial has started their season off 3-0.

First Colonial did not have rosters available. It appears Julia was starting left side in the first set of each match. They graduated a number of their pin hitters from last season. Based on how she played for East Coast Volleyball Club she still may have started even if they had not graduated.

Julia is a six rotation player who shows a good platform when passing. She also exhibits quickness when playing defense, despite her 6’0″ height and hits the ball well. She has all the tools to become a solid player, proving that by winning a top performer award for her outside hitting at our Prep Dig Junior National showcase.

Julia debuts at number 8 in our class of 2030 ranking, placing her as the number three ranked left side hitter.

Julia plays in Virginia Beach where high schools do not carry frosh or junior varsity teams. When you watch their home games they normally play with 15 players on their bench. Julia should have the skills to make an immediate impact to the varsity team so she may not have to be one of those 15 waiting on the bench.

She played outside for East Coast Volleyball Club Black, which finished 33rd out of 96 teams in the American Division at Junior Nationals. They started out well winning four of their first five matches on the first day. The second day provided a little more of a challenge. Ultimately, they ended up winning the Bronze B bracket on the third day.

Before the play started Julia competed in the Prep Dig National showcase. She impressed enough with her play to win a top performer award.

Julia will play for First Colonial this high school season. Last year they lost to Ocean Lakes in the first round of the Regional playoffs. They have had a couple graduations at the pins which should open up an opportunity for Julia in the starting lineup.

Julia Ferguson approaches leadership with a simple philosophy: make the next play and help everyone else do the same. She wants teammates to know they can count on her to stay positive, communicate consistently, and compete with confidence no matter what the scoreboard says. Rather than allowing mistakes to linger, Ferguson believes the best teams move forward together, and she works to be one of the athletes who helps create that mindset.

That perspective carries into the way she hopes coaches evaluate her. Beyond her offensive contributions, Ferguson wants to be remembered as someone who brings stability to the court through effort, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her teammates. Those qualities continue shaping a competitor who understands that trust is earned through daily habits just as much as match-day performance.

Julia first came to my attention when she attended the Junior National Prep Dig Showcase. At 6’0″ she impressed with her hitting as well as her ability to play six rotations. When I watched her in actual games, she looked even better hitting the ball outside, passing and playing defense. She hit so well from the left side that she made my all 14 tournament team.

This past season Julia led her 8th grade team to the city championship. This coming high school season she will play for First Colonial. Looking forward to seeing how that progresses.

Julia also registered for the Prep Dig frosh showcase coming late July.

Julia attended our Prep Dig showcase on the first day. On the second day she helped East Coast win a match.

After losing to Dallas Skyline White in the first set 25-22 they bounced back in the second set to win 25-22. Julia got the kill that gave them a 24-20 lead. She plays all six rotations for East Coast.

In the third set she hit a down ball into the net and East Coast fell behind 1-4. She also had an opportunity to seal the game but her hit down the line just went out. With ECVC up 14-12 she went down the line again however this time she was successful to generate a 15-12 win.

ECVC also won their second match to finish the first day undefeated.

I have yet to see East Coast Volleyball Club Black play but I hope to see them in Indy. Julia is a six rotation left side player who stands six foot. She won an MVP award as an 8th grader. Definitely worth a watch.
